Garage Door Maintenance
Back To Our ServicesTorsion Spring Testing
The requires careful inspection for damage and proper lubrication maintenance. If it is in good condition, it should be tested before lubricant is applied. The test is designed to reveal if the force which the component holds matches the weight of the door. The first step involves disconnecting the opener by pulling the emergency release handle. Then a single person should lift the door manually halfway to open position. When the spring is in good condition even an older child would be able to lift the door without straining. The next step involves releasing the door. If there is an optimal amount of force, the door should stay in place or move just a bit in either direction. If it drops down or shoots up, the torsion spring has to be adjusted.
